HIRING: Head of Engineering / Founding ML Engineer | Fraud Detection / Anomaly Detection Experience Required

THE OVERVIEW:

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MY CLIENT:
This client just raised a Pre-Seed investment round, and they are looking for their 1st engineering hire to join a technical CPO and their CEO. They are looking for someone who can come in and help them build the MVP, but also someone who wants to (and has) managed engineers in the past. The title will most likely be Head of Engineering or CTO to encapsulate the breadth of the role and it's responsibilities. That said, the person they hire will be VERY hands-on, building the MVP.
This company is in stealth mode, but I can share this: They are building a predictive model to flag anomalies / fraud in healthcare data, and help eliminate lost money due to fraudulent claims, and thus reduce healthcare costs for patients across the US. This is a HUGE opportunity as there is about ~200 billion every year estimated to be lost by fraudulent health care claims. There are already several players in this space, but all were founded in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s and are very outdated for today's needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep background in Fraud Detection, Claims Data, Abuse Detection, or Payment Integrity
- Experience building ML Platforms from scratch (Backend)
- Hybrid history in both technical leadership and hands on development
- Strong history at previous Pre-Seed, VC backed startup(s), growing through Seed/Series A+
- BONUS/NICE TO HAVE: Blue Chip Company Experience
- BONUS/NICE TO HAVE: CS / Data / ML or Related Degree from a Top 10 Engineering School
- BONUS/NICE TO HAVE: Experience working in the Healthcare Space
LOCATION
Our client is based in SF and will be starting an office in SF or in the South Bay. The work is Hybrid, so you must be willing to join the team 2 days a week.
SALARY / EQUITY
There are two general ways they are willing to compensate the right candidate:
- Low(er) Salary / High(er) Equity: With this direction, you would be paid a salary in the 150K range, with exceptionally strong equity (up to ~10% equity!)
- Higher(er) Salary / Lower(er) Equity: With this option they would be willing to pay up to a 200K/250k salary, but they would drastically decrease the equity, likely offering in the ~1% to 5% equity range.
